Fun with Koi and Long Exposures

Late one afternoon recently I was out by the pond, trying to get some shots of koi, who were in a particularly playful mood. The quality of the light, though, just wasn’t allowing me to get my shutter speed up high enough for shots that I was happy with (more on this in a future blog post). I decided to go the other direction with it. I set my camera up on a tripod, narrowed my aperture, and let my remote shutter release do the walking. The results of this first time out weren’t quite magical, but I think that I’m definitely on to something. I thought that our readers might enjoy looking through these, and maybe they’ll inspire some of you to try something similar.
