Devoted fans may remember this very bloom from a previous wallpaper in December. I really can’t quite put my finger on what it is about this blossom that makes it look so surreal, but I absolutely love it. The soft pink ombré of the petals darkening to a sudden yellow shift at the heart of the bloom and the combination of a speckled variegation and striation on the petals give it about as complex a color profile as a two-color bloom can have. The previous wallpaper was a tight shot of the bloom that made it look almost like a marble carving of a water lily. While I’m a huge fan of tightly-cropped photos of flowers, of course, I thought that this spectacular bloom deserved a wallpaper with some greater context.
